The RITUAL project invited several composers to create works that would bridge the spirit of club music with the language of contemporary composition. Aurés Moussong contributed the piece GN-∆lon for contrabass clarinet and electronics, performed by Ignat Krasikov, in which pulsating energy, meditative elements, and a hypnotic atmosphere converge.
In an extract from Ignat Krasikov’s interview for the magazine Musical Life he says:
“I thought of the contrabass clarinet—a rare, powerful instrument with a low, almost shamanic timbre. I wanted to make it part of a club context. That’s how the idea was born, together with Roma Parkhomenko, to invite several composers and ask them to write music that combines club energy with compositional freedom. For me, it was a kind of laboratory experiment: giving colleagues the possibility to express themselves, while still finding a unified form.”
